June 2012 News

2012 Conference Update

  • The call for proposals is now officially open. For our regular conference, submit your proposals using these directions. If you are an iEARN member, please submit your proposals here. We will start vetting proposals on June 30 and you will be able to schedule your time slot for presenting once approved.
  • Make sure you have read the mission of our conference before submitting your proposal. This is NOT a general education conference.
  • Our 2012 international advisory board will be meeting for the first time next week. It's not too late to join! Please join our group and RSVP here.
  • We're planning a face-to-face in person meeting for those GEC members who happen to be attending the ISTE conference in San Diego, California, USA on June 24, 2012. RSVP here to be part of this "unconference" event.
  • Partner organizations and sponsors are being sought to support the 2012 Global Education Conference. Partners can register here and those interested in supporting the conference can contact Steve Hargadon directly for sponsorship information at hargadon@gmail.com.
  • Suggest keynote speakers here. We are not looking for people to self-promote, but rather, we appreciate suggestions from our members for high-level thought leaders reflecting all regions of the world.

  • Take a look at our mission statement so that you understand what we are all about.
  • There is a great deal of content beyond the front page of our community. Make sure to check out all the discussionsblogsgroups, and events posted from members around the world.
  • We love social media!  Find out about others ways you can connect with GEC members by clicking on More in the green navigation bar.
  • If you're looking for project partners, search our 10,000+ membership for people from a specific country.
  • If you're looking to get people involved in your work or project, post a discussion forum post with as much detail as possible about your project. Be aware that schools in different hemispheres may have differing school schedules. Also, add your project to our project database.
  • Check out a few recorded sessions from last year's conference. A few recommendations can be found here and the full list is available here.
