Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum): In this session, you will learn how your class/team/school can participate in OneWorld Classrooms’ K-12 International Art Exchange. Participating K-12 classrooms/schools from around the world physically exchange student artwork that reflects their lives and cultures. The program also offers Google Earth tours that visit all participating schools and student art PowerPoint presentations. Participants may also opt for ‘Where in the World is My Art?’ tracking, and/or Email Q & A or Skype exchanges with oversees partners.
The K-12 Global Art Exchange is:
- an easy way to collaborate with K-12 classrooms around the world and develop related curriculum-based lessons
- an authentic source for learning about global cultures
- aligned with art, language arts, foreign language and social studies curricula
OneWorld Classrooms’ mission is to prepare young people for local and global citizenship and for community engagement in culturally diverse settings, by providing them opportunities to interact and learn with their global peers in the context of the K-12 curriculum. We offer innovative arts and technology-based programs and services through which students and after-school program children and youth 1) share, collaborate and explore with their peers from different cultures; 2) develop global awareness and cross-cultural understanding; and 3) gain the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need to improve their academic achievement and become thoughtful, compassionate and globally competent individuals.
