Short Session Description (one line): Game design and production are emerging as an effective way to engage students across the curriculum.

Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum): The value of game design as an effective pedagogy for teaching and engaging students across the curriculum does not depend on computers or technology.  In fact, with the Game Design Tool Kit (GDTK) as an introductory framework and teaching aid, educators do not necessarily need to be experts in video game design to implement game design exercises or projects in their classrooms.  With designs in hand, if teachers are able to support students through technical production, Studio K is a great set of resources for building original games in Microsoft's Kodu.  The Learning Games Network uses both of these resources as it works with partners such as the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations to get young people making games that promote global understanding, sustainability, and peace.  Learn more about how you can integrate these resources into your teaching and collaborate with a growing network of global educators.
