Full Session Description:
In the year 2000 the world made a promise;
that every child, everywhere, would have access to education by the year 2015.
When 2015 arrived,
(after a monumental effort by governments and agencies involved)
85% of the children without access to education at the dawn of the millennium were attending school.
That means 15% were left out.
In real terms, that means 58 to 59 million children are still without access to or engaging in
education.
Now we’ve made a new promise:
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on Quality Education states that
by 2030, we will have inclusive education and life-long learning opportunities for all.
That includes the final 15%
however…
…because those children really are the very hardest to reach,
it may take every one of those fifteen years,
and possibly more,
until the dream of true universal education becomes a reality.
So over the Academic Year 2016-17 we invite you
to join a unique interactive, multi-media documentary for school audiences around the world
where we take your school on a journey,
creatively exploring issues around universal education provision.
Our founder and adventurer Justin Miles will be on the ground,
wherever YOU send him,
where he'll be:
Asking question about wide range of barriers that stop children going to school
Seeking examples of how education changes lives and shapes communities
Meeting inspiring people working against the odds to make education real
Most importantly,
together as a community we’ll uncover ideas for what we each can do now
to support Every Person Everywhere in developing themselves through
education;
in ways that help us live in harmony with the planet.
“I’ll make your updates into regular assemblies!” - P.Wilsher, Teacher
