Linking Leaders with Communities - Best practices in moderation of Social Media communities
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
With the wide-scale adoption and maturation of Social Media, and the desire for increased connection amongst our communities, there is a requirement for these social communities to be managed to realise the anticipated benefits. The increasingly complex networks with which community members associate, along with the commercial drivers of the platforms used, heightens the need for positive leadership to maintain community and drive the dialog to maintain the community's mission.
In this presentation we will discuss commonly available web 2.0 platforms, their user base and their respective communication styles; and explore the role community moderators have in maintaining an effective community.
With effective moderation, global communities can be found, reached, educated, inspired and motivated to take action in support of the group's mission - leveraging like passions for greater impact.
The presentation will focus on best practices in community moderation developed from observing and leading learning communities ranging in scale from 5 to 300,000, and provide guidance for online community leaders using these platforms.
