Teaching Grade 9 (Ages 13-14) US History Classes. Would like to develop and collaborate with British Class to help students understand issues from multiple viewpoints and perspectives. I will have two classes of about 30 students each.

Hi John. I am a teacher in Sydney, Australia so not exactly who you are looking for. However, I do teach History and thought you might be interested to hear about what I am planning. I teach the history of slavery. This year I am planning on giving students not only the opportunity to study the history of slavery but also the opportunity to investigate modern slavery. It is not a big project. It would only take about six lessons. However, I am keen to do it at the start of September. If you email me I could send you some more information. I have been working on a site and it should go live next week. My email is rford@sacs.nsw.edu.au If you teach slavery as well then perhaps it could work. I totally understand that this might not link in at all with what you do.

Hi Richard,
Good to hear from you. I don't get into slavery until we cover the U.S. Civil War, which is not until the Spring (April). However,
this past year I used the book, Half The Sky by Nicloas Kristoff to teach about the oppression of women especially in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East. A large part of the work was forced human slavery. Do you think we could develop a project. I think it would similar to what you're interested in doing. Drop me a line.
