Title: Fun Ways to Infuse Culture and Technology into the Second Language Classroom
Short Description: Inject fun and laughter into your foreign language classroom! All it takes is a little creativity. In this session you’ll hear about some of the simple ways teachers can infuse technology into the classroom.
Long Description: Through examples of projects and activities explore how to plan and design projects which provide engaging opportunities for students to practice writing and speaking specific language constructions such as using interrogatives, the past and future tense or the use of negatives etc. A project example will demonstrate how to motivate second language learners to improve reading fluency. Another will explore how to develop the art of debate and persuasive writing while making a global, real world connection. We will discuss the importance of designing projects with the learning process and the end goals in mind. We’ll also explore how to assess multi-media projects.
Project and activity examples will be: iPad apps, digital story telling, enhanced podcasts, avatars, animations, Google Voice, podcasts, video and Voicethread. We will explore how students can publish their work and share it with a wider audience.
