Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Throughout the history of the world, math has been the common language that connected us globally. Math gives us the ability to predict the rainfall in Africa as well as the drought patterns in Nebraska. If learners are able to master and apply these basic math principles, the more likely they will be able to contribute and continue to develop and enhance their communities. This workshop will focus on how math can be taught using different perspectives to ensure students are receiving a well rounded understanding of how math is connected around the globe. The workshop will focus primarily on situations that are similar to everyday issues and concerns and how with a sound math foundation students can solve and offer reasonable solutions. It is important for students to see the relevance of how other cultures use math to solve everyday problems that are important to their nation's survival and growth.
