Full Session Description (as long as you would like):  MY HERO presents New Media Technology for Global and Local Activism! Wendy Milette will discuss participating in the CALL TO ACTION initiative through New Media Production. Doing what you can, with what you have, where you are, is our theme. There is a wide range of new media tools that can be useful in a campaign to take action including: a digital art piece / a simple montage with stills, voice over and music / an expressionistic video utilizing art, animation and sound / and a simple documentary including interviews, montage, music and voice-over. As Director of Media Arts Education and Film Festivals, Wendy will share her expertise in using new media for positive social change. Wendy is available to offer feedback on CALL TO ACTION projects as they are being developed: media@myheroproject.org

The CALL TO ACTION circle will start the end of January and follow a 4 month span. My Hero Learning Circles is an online global exchange that has My Hero partnered with iEARN.org. Teachers and students from around the world learn about each other’s cultures, communities, countries and of course, their heroes. The world is brought into each of their classrooms and their classrooms into the world. The goal of this MY HERO CALL TO ACTION learning circle is to choose a hero or hero organization to support in whatever way you and your students see fit and to document those actions with skype sessions, blogs, diaries, art and or short films and thereby encouraging others to take action.
