GLOBAL COMPETENCES in the framework of the International projects

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

Using the WEB 2.0 tools available to us on Twinspace,on webs.com(free) and Oracle site,we were involved in INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS ,designing activities for learning different Global Citizen's competences.

Thus, we created a fully resourced website that contained basically a campaign toolkit meant to support the Romanian Culture(campaign materials translated into English  by pupils),visuals, materials on the theme, having in mind all the time the the core competences of 21st century learner: social responsibility, cultural, global and environmental awareness, cross-cultural communication;the transversal competences / the cross-curricular competences that should be learned at school in every subject-Thinking and learning to learn,Cultural knowledge, interaction and expression,Health care and daily life skills,Multi-literacy,Information and communication technology,Working life and entrepreneurship,Active citizenship and building sustainable future. The projects helped our students to develop their reading skills, their confidence, self-motivation and understanding of their rights and responsibilities both within their own societies and Europe.Pupils and teachers got an idea of what other European languages sound like, which are the favourite literary themes of their European peers, they will get an idea about the specific cultural background of each country involved in the project. In this way, exploring literature, customs, traditions, European legal policies, types of flags, the young people could appreciate their country, tracing out cultural, touristic and literary itineraries and ,at the same time, increase the learning of other European countries. Thus, the young people will succeed in knowing more about Europe, our big FAMILY and work together in harmony, feeling themselves,GENUINE CITIZENS OF EUROPE,in the spirit of GLOBAL EDUCATION,developing INTERCULTURAL and GLOBAL COMPETENCES.

The coordinators (ROMANIAN, GREEK, TURKISH, AMERICANS,POLISH, PORTUGUESE,FRENCH )involved in the projects spread out its outcomes using the blog, chat room, diary on Twinspace sites for educators as didactic.ro  and making presentations for their colleagues who teach English as foreign language ,posted regulary results on sites as https://sites.google.com/site/virtualeclasscommunity/platon-school---technical-college-toma-n-socolescu-ploiesti

https://sites.google.com/site/virtualeclasscommunity/ .

There is documentation in English too on :

https://gitso-outage.oracle.com/thinkquest

https://sites.google.com/site/virtualeclasscommunity/platon-school---technical-college-toma-n-socolescu-ploiesti and on http://desktop.etwinning.net/projects/project/69296 ,http://desktop.etwinning.net/projects/project/72999 , http://desktop.etwinning.net/projects/project/66401

Thus, we learned a very valuable LESSON ON THE IMPORTANCE OF GLOBAL EDUCATION in 21 st century society, requiring developing digital skills and global competences .Beyond our partners` recognition, working on these ICT projects,we became more and more convinced that arts, culture, generally speaking, play a vital  role in the life of the European Union' s /Global citizens, which ,through a common language on culture are  enabled to cooperate better, to build up bridges, to reconcile over cultural and mental  differences.

    Dear Alina -

Thank you for your proposal; it sounds interesting and with a few edits, it might possibly be accepted for the conference. My question for you is how does your topic of Romanian Nobel prize winners relate to global collaboration and the overall mission of our conference http://www.globaleducationconference.com/page/our-mission? Are you trying to say that this is a way for any country to analyze its contributions to global society at large? Please clarify this and add language that ties to our mission. To edit, go to the OPTIONS button and edit your proposal. When you have done this, let me know and I'll take another look at this.

    Thanks,

    Lucy Gray

    • By this project that promoted reading the national/ Romanian writers that were awarded with the NOBEL PRIZE,because they succeeded in conveying GLOBAL VALUES/issues as HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENCE,PEACE AND WAR PREVENTION,we suceeded in Spain, in schools that are obeying the objectifs of GLOBAL EDUCATION, especially in its INTERCULTURAL dimension,to promote the national values from the larger perspective of GE,  integrating GE in the curriculum, promoting a  cross-curricular approach.
