October 28 - Conference Update

Greetings to the Global Education Collaborative Community -

On behalf of myself and my conference co-chair, let me extend a warm hello to all members of our professional learning network. It's amazing that almost 1000 people have joined this space in the last month and over 200 proposals have been submitted by those seeking to share their work and expertise November 14-18.  It's clear that excitement is building as the 2011 Global Education Conference draws near and we appreciate the enthusiasm of everyone involved thus far!

This is just a quick email to let you know a few important things about proposals:

  • CORRECTION! The call for proposals ends Tuesday, November 1 at 12:00 AM PST which is the same as Tuesday, November 1 07:00 UTC.
  • Proposals are being approved on a rolling basis.
  • If you have a session approved, please self-schedule your time to present during the week of November 14-18.
  • Presenters should also join the presenter's group to be kept informed of developments.
  • If your presentation was not accepted, don't despair! Please edit it and consider resubmitting!
    • Make sure your proposal is in the required format.
    • Also, make sure you include language that shows how your ideas relate to the mission of the conference.
    • Email Steve (hargadon@gmail.com) or Lucy (elemenous@gmail.com) to let either of them know your proposal is ready for review.

Other important news:

  • Keynotes are starting to be announced! Take a look at our growing list which includes Chris Dede, Howard Gardner, Alan November and Geetha Narayanan!
  • The conference schedule is also filling  with a variety of general sessions.
  • We need volunteers to moderate sessions. Join our group and stay tuned for more information.
  • Training sessions are scheduled for those who need support with the conference platform, Blackboard Collaborate.
