October is upon us and we’ve compiled another set of resources to help you connect your classroom to the world. Additional opportunities worth exploring have been outlined in our August and September articles here on Medium.

Standing resources for exploring globally connected teaching and learning include our Global Education Resources page and our Global Events and Celebrations Calendar. You need to be a member of our global education community, the Global Education Conference Network, to access these pages.

Our next major event will be our 8th annual Global Education Conference held entirely online and around the clock between November 13–16, 2018. The call for proposals is now open, and we hope you will join us as a presenter and as an attendee. The GEC is not an ed tech conference nor a general education conference; all proposals must relate to globally connected teaching and learning. If you are curious about presenting, we highly encourage you to take a look at archived presentations from previous years.

Also, Steve Hargadon and I will be hosting a Global Education Day event at TCEA on February 5th. This event will be open to people who are participating in premium workshops at the conference. Let us know if you are planning to be in Austin, Texas, for this conference. We are excited to bring this event to TCEA members!

Here is our October collection of information requests, events and opportunities organized by others that we’ve recently noticed. If you have something to share, post details in our discussion forum, and we’ll get the word out in November!

• Julie Lindsay is publishing case studies from her book, The Global Educator, including this one about the Global Read Aloud founder, Pernille Ripp. The Global Read Aloud is a global viral project, and it starts on October 2. Julie also recently published a case study about our work as well.
• Empatico has opened registration for their classroom matching virtual exchange program to teachers of students ages 8–10. They are in beta mode currently and will expand in the future.
• Registration Closes October 3rd for Global Competence Certificate Courses from our friends at World Savvy
• English Project Encourages Classrooms to Think About What They Would Add to a Time Capsule — brought to you by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and the TOEFL® program
• The Great Global Cardboard Challenge is happening on October 7th. Inspired by the short film, ‘Caine’s Arcade’, the Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual event presented by the Imagination Foundation to celebrate child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it.
• Google has produced an amazing collection of digital artifacts related to Hispanic Heritage Month which runs from September 15 - October 15th. Explore it out here.
• The NEA Foundation has announced that the application process for its Global Learning Fellowship is now open. Applications are due by February 5, 2018.
• Melibee Global has compiled a timely list of ideas for celebrating International Education Week in November that will help you plan ahead.
• C-Span is hosting a video documentary competition and a “behind the scenes” photo contest for on the topic of “The Constitution & You” for United States students in grades 6–12. Entries are due in January.
• Lead with Languages is a call-to-action initiative from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages on making language proficiency a national priority. Many great resources are posted on this site.
• The World’s Largest Lesson launched this year on September 18th and contains resources for teaching students about issues related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• Participate has a new community focused on teaching the SDGs. Join this free space and collaborate with others.
• SDG Stories is a platform for engaging with others on the SDGs as well.

Finally, we held our first VIRTUAL Global Education Fair on September 21. You can still browse information and view videos posted by our exhibitors or contact them directly by visiting our online exhibit hall.
