Greetings GEC members -
Just a quick note to bring you up to date on a few matters. Read on!
This event is scheduled to take place November 15-19 completely online. All sessions will be held in the Elluminate video conferencing platform. There is no need to pre-register to attend.
The conference is co-chaired by Steve Hargadon and myself. The focus is on global collaboration and bringing interested parties together to explore best practices in helping students and teachers develop global competencies.
Proposals to present are still being accepted through Monday, November 1. You have a few days to submit a session idea related to your work. Session types include formal presentations, panel discussions, and open discussions. Our conference tracks are Teachers, Students, Curriculum, Policy and Change, and Global Issues. To see sessions that have already been accepted, please visit this link.
Please also check out our fabulous list of partners which includes Creative Commons, Common Sense Media, iEARN, ePals, the Asia Society and many other amazing organizations and businesses.
The conference hashtag for Twitter is #globaled10 and the resource wiki is available here: http://www.globaleducationwiki.com/. Please pass this information on to your colleagues!

Project Reminder
EdSteps is looking for samples of student work related to global competencies. The deadline is in January. Help develop an invaluable and novel resource!
Global Awareness Resource
I recently contributed to a piece for the Big Deal Book on the 21st century theme of global awareness. This document is a free download for those who register on the Big Deal site, and it contains a huge range of resources related to themes defined by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.
*GEC Etiquette*
- Please refrain from posting multiple messages containing the same content on people's personal pages. Some may consider this unneccessary "spam" and the best way to reach out to a large number of GEC members is to post in the discussion forum.
- If you do leave a message for a particular member, make sure it has a legitimate purpose and it is recommended that you personalize a message for that member as opposed to cutting and pasting a generic message. You may have more success with connecting with members if you reach out them this way.
- Finally, if you post to your personal page's status message box, very few people will probably see this posting. Your best best if you have a specific request of the GEC membership is to post to the discussion forum as well.
Thanks for your continued support and involvement,
Lucy Gray
