Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum): In this presentation, I intend to elaborate on the following ideas: The definition of open content and its potential benefits in increasing the quality as well as the accessibility of education across the globe. There are many schools all over the world that lack access to high-quality educational resources, but open content has the ability to provide people everywhere with free, adaptable educational resources. However, open content has widely been difficult to adopt, which is the issue that our new edtech startup, Open Tapestry, seeks to eliminate.
Open Tapestry is a social online learning platform that facilitates the discovery, the adaptation, and the distribution of open educational resources to people across the web. Open Tapestry also allows teachers to track their students’ activity on learning resources, and it automatically provides the license and attribution of content in order for users to comply with copyright laws. Open Tapestry allows people to create interactivity around open content to enhance learning, and interactive content on Open Tapestry can easily be integrated with any existing Learning Management System.
