Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Bridging the gap between cultures is key to helping students understand new communities and the people who live in them. Global volunteer opportunities provide high school students a unique opportunity to develop and apply language skills while modeling their native language for those they work with. High school students who experience life in a foreign country while volunteering learn to respect differences and value cultural diversity.
It is important to understand what contributes to a successful international volunteer opportunity for high school students. When the right opportunity meets the right student, incredible educational and personal benefits occur; for both student participants and those in the local community. Sheryl Bone, composition professor, and her sixteen year old son Maxwell will discuss their experiences with Max’s international volunteer experiences in Africa, Guatemala, Peru and Costa Rica.

Excellent! This is a great opportunity for both Max and I. We are really looking forward to the opportunity. Thank you!
There actually was a session that I attended last year that was a parent/child presentation. Lainie Liberti was the mom/presenter with son Miro and the topic was worldschooling. You may wish to listen to the recording. I thought it was a very effective format.
Good luck to you and Max as you prepare your presentation!
