This presentation will foster global collaboration and communication for developing and sharing best practices for fostering digital citizenship. Technology can positively contribute to educational equity, and global collaboration and communication for teaching and learning. Teachers can foster global digital literacy and global collaboration when incorporating technology into the learning environment as instructional, curricular, learning, and presentation tools that support 21st century and digital learners.  Informational websites or blogs may also provide collaborative opportunities for educators in building best practices for global teaching and learning projects. This presentation includes data collected from classroom educators and online instructors who were interviewed to determine current best practices to develop professional training that supports educators worldwide in designing engaging and real-world activities for teaching and learning in all learning environments from a global perspective.

Bio: 

Dr. Akin is an online instructor who teaches graduate level course in special education and leadership. She teaches and supports doctoral candidates and students in research and dissertation preparation. As an national education consultant she works with administrators, teachers, and schools districts by developing and facilitating professional development workshops as a faculty member for ASCD. Dr. Akin values collaboration, and currently chairs the High Quality Online Teaching and Learning Committee of AACTE. Her doctoral degree is in educational leadership and her M.S. degree in special education.

Dr. Crystal Neumann has worked in a blended learning and online learning environment in higher education. She chairs the EDD and EDS program at American College of Education.

Tenika Broussard has worked in higher education in a blended learning environment and within classrooms in public education. She earned a Masters degree in curriculum development.
