Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Mr. Carter has not only done extensive research into global collaboration, he also designed an innovative new class centered around instilling Global Citizenship using global-based guiding principles, online collaboration tools and project-based learning. He shares his tips on how best to design a course like this, leading teachers and administrators through the planning and implementation process. His course brings together students from three grade levels (6-8) so is applicable for teachers of any level and can be used as a model to design similar courses. The course aims to create community amongst students, build rapport with students in other classes (and countries), develop empathy, self-directed learning and confidence to not only produce well-designed and well-managed projects, but to also learn about global issues and make a difference in the world.
