Join curriculum experts from Primary Source and the Asia Society as they provide exciting ideas for using primary sources from “Homeland Afghanistan” to deepen students’ understanding of Afghan history and culture.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
In this session, Primary Source and the Asia Society will present ways to teach history and the humanities with rich resources from "Homeland Afghanistan," an online resource developed by the Asia Society. "Homeland Afghanistan" explores the geopolitical and cultural heritage of Afghanistan through a humanities perspective and tells the country's history through 75 video episodes, featuring leading experts and hundreds of paintings, literary works, photographs, and historical artifacts.
The session will introduce educators and administrators to "Homeland Afghanistan" and highlight its diverse collection of primary sources. Curriculum experts from Primary Source and the Asia Society will suggest engaging classroom activities that use primary sources such as photographs, historical coins, paintings, and political cartoons to enhance students' understanding of Afghanistan's complex history and culture. Time for Q & A will be included.
