Dear GEC Members -
We are very thrilled to announce that we've reached 24,000 members in our community! Thank you to all who have made this possible over the last 10 years.
Our annual conference is coming up quickly, and we want to remind you about a few important matters.
PRESENTING
- The call for proposals ends on November 1. Please submit your presentation proposals soon!
- Review accepted proposals to learn more about the mission of our conference.
- If you have been asked to edit your proposal, please complete your edits by November 1 as well.
- Encourage others to submit proposals by distributing this flyer.
- If your proposal has been accepted, consider attending a Blackboard Collaborate training session.
- We are in need of presentations in other languages, particularly Spanish. Here is some information in Spanish and including contact information for our Spanish language coordinators.
- Note that we have a new strand this year focused on Dual Language programs.
KEYNOTES
- We are honored to feature these global educators and a few others are still to be announced.
- If you have a suggestion for speakers for future events, please fill out this form.
VOLUNTEERING AND ADVISORY BOARD
- A great way to meet other global educators is to volunteer to moderate conference sessions. We will have a volunteer calendar posted soon in our volunteer group. Join this group if you are interested.
- Volunteers should attend a training session at their convenience.
- Moderators who speak both English and Spanish are highly encouraged to volunteer.
- We are re-organizing our advisory board. If you have applied for this, expect an email from Steve Hargadon within the next week or so.
THE GREAT GLOBAL PROJECT CHALLENGE
- Our next initiative is the Great Global Project Challenge.
- There is a grant opportunity associated with this and the deadline for submissions is December 1.
- We now have a GGPC guide available for Macs and iOS; it is also available as a PDF.
- We will be updating the webpage and associated materials for the GGPC every few days.
Expect more announcements from us over the next few weeks. If you have further questions, you can always post in our front page chatroom and perhaps another GEC member can answer your query. You can also post to our discussion forum.
Finally, Steve and I will in Paris, France, at the end of November for a meeting and will be extended our stay for a few days. If any GEC member will be present in Paris and would like to meet for coffee, let us know. We will be in the city from November 26 - December 2 approximately.
Thanks for your continuing support,
Lucy Gray and Steve Hargadon
