Name and Title:  Suzane L. Bricker, M.A., Adjunct Assistant Professor (online)

School, Library, or Organization Name: University of Maryland University College

Country from Which You Will Present: USA

Language in Which You Will Present: English

Target Audience:  Educators at colleges and universities that have global outreach.

۞   Short Session Description (one line):  The ability to Interpret and respond to the educational needs of students who are actively deployed globally.

۞   Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum): The purpose of my proposal is to present a comprehensive look at the specific needs of military students who are actively deployed globally, and who are entering the “virtual classroom” for the first time.  Additionally, I would like to draw upon my own experiences as an educator of more than 15 years, as well as someone who has developed course curriculum and provided related instruction in on-ground, hybridized, accelerated, and online formats to facilitate a discussion of how to best serve as an effective “guide” to such a specialized group. Therefore, my presentation will be directed toward those individuals who are already teaching, and/or considering providing instruction in a virtual format that will reflect the specific challenges such students face in achieving their educational objectives.  Finally, I will offer practical advice on how to effectively “guide” this unique set of learners toward the successful fulfillment of their academic goals.

  • Hi Suzanne, to enable your session to be searchable can you choose and add from the tags below those that are applicable. Then go up to options>edit your tags and add them in before your existing tags. If you have any questions, please ask. These are the tags to choose from:-

2012Teachers 2012Students 2012Curricular 2012Policy 2012Gaming or go back and check the instructions page again for detail on each of the tags.

A ning does not like spaces between tags, so if you add an underscore between your current tags where words stay together, that will hold them together. Hope this makes sense.

    • Anne,

Hopefully, I have made the suggested corrections.  However, if not, I would greatly appreciate your feedback again, as well.

      Regards,

      Suzane

      • Hi Suzane, the tags are good now for searching for sessions for the conference. Thanks for doing that but for the tags you had in orginally, you need an underscore between two words. The ning assumes a space means a whole new tag, even if commas are put between tags. So, I am assuming that you want tags global_learning and online_military_learning. That underscore will hold the words together. Does that make sense? So if you edit your tags once more and copy what I have written here all will be good. Thanks!
