I and a fellow teacher will be sharing approximatley 40 students starting this September.  We teach 6th grade (ages 10-12) in a town in Maine. (English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science)

Being teachers in Maine, the majority of our students do not have a great deal of cultural exposure.  In an attempt to begin broadening their horizons, we have arranged for our students to receive weekly Spanish lessons from local college students.   We have chosen Spanish because we feel that this is a language that our students should be learning as it plays a key role in the global world.

We are searching for a class of an approximate equal number of students in the same age range with whom we can collaborate via technology on joint projects.  Our goal is for students to gain experience working with their global peers while explanding their understanding of a different culture.   Due to our students just beginning to learn a little Spanish, we would need your class to have a grasp of some English.

We have already created an activity that explores the definition of culture and would allow students to get to know each other. We would also love to collaborate in all academic areas.  We look forward to hearing from you!
