Hello,

TheNorthSchool.com is looking for collaborators in 2012. Our vision is for international collaboration to be the normal state of affairs at our school rather than something exceptional, and that the power of these collaborations is as much as possible put into the hands of the students rather than the teachers.

We have two existing international projects that aim to do this - the Writers' club, which currently consists of  over one hundred writers from twelve schools in five nations that share their writing with other members of the community. The barrier for participation for this community is kept deliberately low - all students write, there are no restrictions on the type of writing, how often the students contribute, or how many students from a class are involved - it could be only your top writer, or it could be your whole class.

Science@TheNorthSchool runs along similar lines but is less developed at this stage. The goals of Science@TheNorthSchool are to enable students to share the results of their own experiments conducted at school; to work with other students from around the world; and to enable students to seek advice from real-life scientists (a number of working scientists are members of the site).

Both of these initiatives have been presented nationally and internationally, and have received some media attention.

If you are interested in participating in either of these communities, or have some other proposal that could help us achieve our vision, please let us know by replying to this topic or emailing us at contact@thenorthschool.com  .

Cheers,

Rob.
