In this session, participants will understand the importance of helping students develop their personal identity and how this produces the foundation for meaningful global connection. Once this foundation is laid, teachers can provide opportunities for students to connect with their peers around the world through authentic, collaborative and project-based learning. These experiences ultimately help students develop empathy, communication, critical thinking and other necessary 21st century skills. Through an interactive approach including live polls and reflection, the presenter will provide practical strategies and technology resources to help teachers make global connection a reality in their classrooms.

Develop an understanding of the importance of the role of identity in meaningful global connection
Develop an understanding of the opportunities global connection provides for students
