Conference Updates
New Press Release - Here is our new conference flyer! Please pass it on! GEC_pressrelease_September.pdf
Proposals - We're gearing up for a final push for proposals for the 2012 Global Education Conference! Submissions are due October 15th at 11:59 PM (GMT-5; Chicago), so start thinking about how can share YOUR great ideas, projects, resources, and dreams with educators and organizations from all around the world. Everyone is welcome to present as long as your session is clearly tied to the overall mission of the conference. Remember, this is not solely an ICT conference; it's about global collaboration!
If you are interested in presenting at the overall conference, follow these directions: GEC Call for Proposals. If you are a member of iEARN, here are the directions for iEARN members.
New! Film Exhibition Announced - Last year, two important films were available online for GEC members to view, and then the directors of these films held online sessions during the conference. We'd like to repeat this experience and also include student work, so consider submitting any film projects of your own. Films should again relate to the mission of the conference. For more details, visit this posting.
Partners and Sponsors - Non-profits, including schools, are encouraged to partner with us in order to encourage participation in the conference. In return for these organizations informing their own networks about this online and free conference, we will post a logo and a link to your organization on our partner page. Check out the forward thinking groups that are partnering with us now and apply to be a partner! (Steve will be updating this list soon!)
Anyone, including commercial organizations, can support the work that happens at our conference and throughout the year by becoming sponsors at very reasonable levels. Contact Co-Chair Steve Hargadon at hargadon@gmail.com if you'd like to learn more about this opportunity.
Social Media - Don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! You can also monitor the Global Education Conference chatter by searching Twitter using the hashtag #globaled12.

Special Event
The next Flat Classroom Conference to be held at the International School of Dusseldorf, Germany December 6-8, 2012. This conference is a special event as it involves both students and teachers in combined and separate sessions as they work through a challenge-based conference format. I'll be joining founders Julie Lindsay and Vicki Davis at this exciting conference, and I hope to meet GEC members there. Please take a look at the conference web site for more details: http://www.flatclassroomconference.com/ and the page specifically about the conference in Germany: http://www.flatclassroomconference.com/conference-europe-2012.html.
