One World Youth Project trains university students to connect local middle schools classrooms to classrooms abroad; Learn what we do and how we do it in a way that considers the perspectives and priorities of all of our stakeholders.
Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum):
One World Youth Project trains university students to work in pairs to lead local middle school classrooms through a global education curriculum and facilitated cross-cultural exchanges with other classrooms abroad. We believe that students learning from and with other youth abroad is the best way to gain cultural awareness, recognize diversity and develop crucial skills such as empathy and cross-cultural communication. We also believe that university students are best positioned to break down the "walls" that exist in many communities between secondary and higher education
School-community partnerships such as OWYP's program are beneficial only if all stakeholders' perspectives and priorities are considered. We will discuss how to identify prospective partners remotely, understand their perspectives and priorities, and create institutional and individual buy-in that supports the development of a sustainable and accountable partnership.
