Dear GEC Members -
This is a spontaneous, last minute invitation to participate virtually in an event where I'll be tomorrow (Wednesday, March 20) , and if you have the time and inclination, we'd love for you join us via the Internet.
Specifically, I'll be at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL, to do 2 presentations on building global networks for their Spartans Connect event. The theme is: Play. Passion. Purpose. I'm particularly excited because this is the high school in my hometown!
So.... we'd love to connect with other global educators (and their students) via Google Hangouts on Air tomorrow, March 20th. Google Hangouts on Air are live video broadcasts that are recorded right into YouTube!
Drop in and share any of the following:
- Global projects with which you are involved that would appeal to secondary students and teachers
- Service learning projects or organizations with which you are involved
- Ideas for helping high school students connect to the world in order to benefit their personal learning networks and to further the work of their school clubs and organizations
- Global education resources that have been particularly useful to you and your students or that you or organization have developed
- Global contests, campaigns and conferences that are related to service learning, social justice, and global education
Our first hangout is going to be at approximately 12:45 PM CDT (GMT-5) and the event invitation with further details is here: http://goo.gl/CZ4b4
Our second hangout will take place at about 2:10 PM CST (GMT-5) and this event's invitation is located here: http://goo.gl/jhr6m.
You'll be able to view the hangouts on my Google+ page: https://plus.google.com/106661354711436509463/posts and can use the comments below the actual broadcasted event to add your thoughts and ideas.
If you want to come into the actual hangout to talk to us, please let me know via email at elemenous@gmail.com.
I know this is a last minute request and I hope that a few Global Education Conference Network members will want to jump in and connect with us. You can also follow the general day's events on Twitter using this hashtag #spartansconnect. If you cannot attend for time zone reasons or scheduling issues, please feel free to join our group in the GEC and add a few comments there.
Thanks,
Lucy Gray

As a teacher at the Distance Education Centre of Victoria and Lecturer at Deakin University I invite people to get in contact so we might put together a number of online collaborative classes based on the Comics Go Global work..

Hello,
Unfortunately, I cannot make the call today. However, we would be delighted if you would pass along this information to the Glenbrook students. Allowance for Good is based in Evanston, IL, so definitely in proximity to Glenbrook North!
Best,
Elizabeth
