As part of my masters class, I would like to have a discussion with other teachers about standardized testing and what it measures. In the United States, we do a lot of standardized testing to measure achievement at certain grade levels. We currently test in the areas of Math, English, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. Our college readiness tests - ACT and SAT measure all of those subjects, except Social Studies. My questions are: Does standardized testing in these areas measure what we need students to master in order to be successful in a global market? Do we need to measure other areas? At K-12 grade levels, do we need to measure other things to ensure success at the global level? Do you administer such tests in your country? Do you find them helpful measures of future student success? I would appreciate any and all input.

As I knew in my master program three years ago, standardized testing was a rubric and criteria that help the educators to measure the certain task whether for reading, writing, speaking and listening for English subject, my major, and it fit with other subjects too.
