As educators how can we foster global competency and develop student voice in education systems that look to standardize not only teacher practice and curriculum, but students themselves?

With over five decades of combined experience in urban education, teacher education, reading and literacy performance, and instructional technology, the presenters address their personal and professional experiences in American public schools, illuminating transformative education practices and dispositions necessary for understanding and acting on issues of local and global significance.

Presenters explore challenges and solutions related to:

  • Defining student achievement
  • Teacher effectiveness (pre-service and in-service teachers)
  • Creating multiple models of engaging curriculum
