Full Session Description (as long as you would like): This session will give best practices, tips, and advice for incorporating two project based, global on-line environmental projects into your science standards. It aims to answer the question: how can teachers and youth connect not only with classmates, but globally while sharing data and student driven ideas.
The objectives of this session are to:
- Identify strategies for networking with educators and students from different countries as classrooms build project teams
- Review tips and advice to prepare students for online global communication and project work with their peers and field questions about successes and set backs
- Share sample environmental projects that integrate collaborative project-based learning
The session will draw on the experiences of teachers in The Chris Stevens Youth Network (CSYN), an initiative to engage students and educators in the Middle East and North Africa with their counterparts in the United States in meaningful, curriculum-based project-based learning and the real world experience of classroom students. The session will include examples of iEARN projects as part of CSYN that engage students in global issues.
