Short Session Description (one line):  How do you connect the world one student at a time?

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): In 2014, Marymount School of New York's Student Technology Leadership Team posed the question: what if students and teachers from around the world could share ideas about using technology in the classroom?  Under the guidance of two educational consultants, and working in collaboration, with three international schools, this dream was realized on January 31, 2015 as the first ever Student Technology Conference, a free, virtual event by students, for all, was born.  The 2016 Conference was equally successful, featuring four student keynote speakers and twenty-four crowd-sourced student presentations, with participants as nearby as New Jersey and as far away as Ukraine and Australia.

In our presentation, we will discuss the collaborative strategies we use with our partner schools - Westhampton Middle School, University School of Milwaukee, Lauriston Girls' School of Melbourne Australia and Willard, Missouri Public Schools to plan both the 2016 and 2017 conferences; mechanisms for promotion through social media such as Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat; fundraising opportunities through Kickstarter; development of conference mission statement and conference strands; as well as the evolution of the conference theme to broaden the focus to include STEM and entrepreneurship.  We welcome student presenters in grades 6 through 12 and college from across the global; we'll discuss strategies for submitting an effective presentation as well as the approval and scheduling process.

Would your students like to be involved in planning the conference?  Do your students work on interesting STEM and entrepreneurship projects?  We'd love for them to participate as we welcome international schools, both public and private, to the planning committee.  Please join our session to find out how or email the conference co-coordinators Eunice Daudu at edaudu@marymountnyc.org or Gaby Palines at gpalines@marymountnyc.org
