   The purpose of this presentation is to outline the meaning of being an online student during a distance educational program at the Caribbean educational distance institution. From a phenomenological research approach and from the students’ ¨culture´s eye¨ narratives are provided concerning the struggles issues and successfully factors that a good quality online program should provide to the students. Narratives will be presented and discussed that supports the importance of understand students feelings and expectations. Thus, understanding students’ stories allow us to know the pro and con and the meaning of being an online student from their prospective. For all the professional involved in online learning this stories show directions that we as online instructors have to pay attention: the feeling of fear about making public the thoughts and discourse that students develops in online learning environments, the importance of communication among students and instructors, and the types of activities that allow professional growth through online learning.
