SWIM Grid - A NEW & Effective Tech Planning and Training Method for Implementing iPads and Tablet Devices
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Educators are more eager to adopt iPads and other touch devices than other technologies introduced in the last 30 years. In this session learn how well-designed professional development will help your staff go beyond the basics to master skills like evaluating apps, designing instructional activities that impact learning and more.
Learning Outcomes:
Educational leaders are faced with the reality that iPad and other tablet devices must be evaluated and integrated into the schools instructional framework. The question is how to plan for this environment. In this session attendees will be introduced to the SWIM Grid for technology planning. The SWIM (School Wide Integration Model) Grid technology planning method covers 4 planning areas: 1) professional development 2) student’s skills 3) curriculum integration and 4) infrastructure improvements. Although all 4 areas are critical for a smooth device implementation, the professional development component is the most critical area. In this session we will focus on how to plan for professional development for teachers that are starting from a variety of technical levels. We will discuss the “Three C’s” for teacher technology use: Confidence, Competence and Content and why these 3 areas will create a clear professional development direction for iPad or other tablet use.

Hi Ernie -
Take a look at our mission statement. We're not an ICT conference! Also, are you representing a for profit organization?
