Teaching, Technology and Transformation in Developing Countries

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

This presentation will use the context of one school in rural Malawi, a country known as “The

Warm Heart of Africa,” as the foundation for exploration of the current challenges to and

opportunities for teaching, leadership and service in a developing country based in part on the

degree of availability, access and usage of technological tools.  An argument will be made that,

despite substantial limitations to both easy access and skillful usage of emerging technologies,

creative thinking and sound leadership has the potential to advance educational outcomes and

the democratization of schools and citizens worldwide, transforming the view of the future for

millions of students around the globe.
