At the outset of the presentation, the presenter will discuss how her "Tech Trip" social media project provides students the opportunity to become meaningful digital citizens and engage in learned discussion about their travel experiences.In the project, students build a website to prepare for a field trip using digital research and online conversation that mirrors the social media experience. On the field trip, students access their site to augment the on-site experience. Post-trip, the students answer guided questions to reflect and share about their field trip. Finally, students contribute their reflections to the global digital community. The presenter will share an example of the Tech Trip project used to augment international student travel to Italy for high school students studying Latin. Attendees will come to understand how the Tech Trip program, and experiential learning in general, aligns with the ISTE Elements of Digital Citizenship, SAMR model, and relatedcurricula frameworks and standards.
