Teddy Bear Project: Humanizing teaching
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Everything started in Qatar when I attended a workshop and learned about the Teddy Bear Project. Back to Brazil I started to correspond with a teacher from Taiwan and we soon arranged for our students get in touch with each other by the Teddy project. She also helped me to find a partner from Russia and my second group could also take part in the experience. A little later I found out that teacher Mali Bickley, also an iEARN member teacher was interested in finding a partner for her group. So, three groups of eight year old kids from Brasil started their adventures in the Teddy Bear Project. The project proved to be very effective in enhancing the awareness for the importance of learning a second language among my students, besides to demonstrate in practice how enjoyable the learning process can be. In this session I intend to describe the whole project illustrated with a video I produced with my three groups of eight year old students and also suggest the creation of a working group within the audience for future experiences. The video is available in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oqOH5V9kbA .
