Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Finding partnerships across the globe can be hard enough. But what happens when tragedy strikes? Town School for Boys partnered with Hindo Kposowa in Bumpe Sierra Leone during the 2013-2014 school year. Through deep collaboration spanning grades K-8 and across disciplines, the students and teachers from both communities learned a lot about daily life and culture. Worried for their global friends due to the rising pandemic of Ebola, Town School teachers are trying to find ways to collaborate with their partners in Sierra Leone. How do you teach students about tragedy without scaring them? How do you continue the partnership in a responsible way knowing the stakes are high but that the benefits outweigh the risk? Join us in a conversation about how and why to move forward while being flexible and responsive.
