Short Session Description:
The other part of equation: Teachers need better care in digital classrooms
Full Session Description:
Very much in online education, students are at the focal point, many tools and platforms are created for teachers to use, in order to teach students and for students' benefits. Despite good will of education technologists, those tools often create steep learning curves to teachers, which result in either adoption of only a small group of tech-savvy ones, or most of the time struggle of large numbers of them who want to catch up with technology but have a hard time following it.
In this presentation, I will propose a new approach where we put teachers and students on 2 sides of a balanced equation. I claim that teachers need as much attention and help as students in classrooms, whether online or traditional ones with help of computers and Internet - hereby called digital classrooms. Teachers, many started teaching in the pre-Internet area, and are more senior than students in “digital-generation” need to be relief from that learning curve. Students should be the driving force that make online learning and digital-based classroom more efficient, lighter in workload for the teachers.
We proposed a classroom models, where students take care of the controls needed for online learning environment. Specifically, remote students will have the choice to set up video capture time and duration, have the ability to vary camera angles, to talk with teachers and get response in real time. Teachers are to be relief from class setup and technical management during class sessions, or for that matter, no IT technician is needed to make a smooth digital classroom experience possible. Furthermore, teachers can see and talks to remote students through large video projection, just as much as students see her/him to have a sense of attachment compare to talking to the screen or small audience.
We want to make digital classrooms fun, engaging and stress-free for teachers and at the same time give students sense of control, power and entertainment.

It's not clear to me how this relates to gaming. If you'd like to be considered for this year's conference, please edit your proposal and apply for the GETideas strand which is focused on technology-driven innovation: Innovation Perspectives with GETideas. You can keep the existing tags, but add 2012GETideas and send in the required supplementary materials by November 1.
Thanks,
Lucy
Thank you Lucy, I have edited the tags and will submit the slides, logo, bio, description and blog post before the deadline.
