Let's share ideas for making the most of next week's conference in this discussion! For those of you who attended last year, what are some strategies you used when participating in the conference? Are there any tools that helped you manage your conference schedule? How did you deal with time zone differences? Any sessions that you found particularly useful or inspiring?
My tool suggestions to start:
- Use Google's Chrome browser as it has a translation bar
- Timeanddate.com is handy for time zone conversions
- Another recent find has been World Time Buddy
- I also add world clocks in various cities across time zones to my Macbook Pro's dashboard and to the clock app on my iPhone
I'm also interested in hearing how schools can use the Global Education Conference in creative ways for professional development. For instance, last year one GEC member's school projected various sessions in a teachers' lounge, so staff could drop in during lunch or their prep periods to catch a bit of the conference.

Hi Lucy, Next year I'm going to look at this event as one I plan to share in some way with my students. Since it occurs during the classroom day, I think it would be great to present with them. Thanks for all your support. I've learned so much already.

Last year at my school, we used one session about teaching the concept of "culture" to prompt an interdisciplinary dialogue. The World Language and World Geography Teachers watched the recorded session together and started to think about common language and expectations that would be useful in both disciplines.
I am also wondering about the idea of watching the 5th grade students present their session in my classroom, with my 6th grade students as participants. Has anyone tried this?
