Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
A vast array of lesson plans for ELL students can be found online. However, many of them do not meet the requirements of being thorough or specific to the needs of students we work with. This presentation would walk participants through finding lesson plans online, and then adjusting them to meet the needs of their English Language Learner. Links to web sites and copies of online lesson plans will be provided to workshop participants. Participants will discuss the pros and cons of the lesson plans they have been given. Then they will be tasked with adjusting their lessons to make them something usable and comprehensive, considering:
Goals and objective of the lesson
Tasks associated with the lesson, and their benefits (or lack of) for ESL students
Grade appropriate activities
Content area appropriateness
Assessments
Adjustments for struggling learners
Strategies to supplement lesson
Participants would leave with resources and a template for adjusting future lessons based on their audience/student needs.
