World Savvy is pleased to announce its 2010-11 professional development
opportunities for NYC & Bay Area teachers. World Savvy is a global non-profit
whose mission is to educate and engage youth in community and world affairs, to
prepare them to learn, work and live as responsible global citizens in the 21st
century. These workshops will be opportunities for educators to gain the skills
and confidence to bring media, art and global issues into any classroom setting.

"SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES"
November 1st - 2nd, 2010 (New York)
November 15th - 16th, 2010 (San Francisco)

Environmental challenges are impacting everyone and youth – the next generation
of global leaders – must think critically and creatively when confronting these
challenges. This 2 day workshop will introduce educators to creative ways of
integrating art, media, and the global theme of Sustainable Communities into
their current curriculum plan, while remaining aligned with state standards for
each subject area.

Please note: Educators in NYC must register for this workshop in order to be
considered for participation in the 2010-11 Media & Arts Program (MAP), which
includes, AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, individualized consultations for curriculum
support & the implementation of the Collaborator's Guide, World Savvy
facilitated workshops & field trips and the Global Youth Media & Arts Festival.

January 10th - 11th, 2011 (New York only)
"IMMIGRATION & IDENTITY"

A revisiting of last year's Media & Arts Program theme. What is my immigration
history? What does it mean to belong to a community? How do communities change
and transform through immigration? Participants will explore these questions
while gaining new tools and interactive techniques to build students' global
literacy and cultural competency.

We look forward to supporting you in making art and global awareness a part of
your classroom's culture.
