Upper Elementary Classroom seeking Global Collaborators

Hello, I teach fourth grade in Detroit, MI. I am very interested in taking part in global collaborative projects. Would your fourth, fifth, or sixth grade class like to participate? I have a couple of ideas, an online "book club," or a project about our hometowns similar to the Life Round Here project ( http://liferoundhere.pbworks.com/ ) which, sadly, isn't running this year to my knowledge. I am also open to any of your ideas or existing projects.

I'd love to incorporate podcasting, wikis, digital video, and Skype into this collaboration. I'd be ready to start (I think) anytime after mid-September.

    Do you think your students would get a deeper understanding of the book they are reading if they knew about the art of that time? If you wish ahaafoundation.org is the beginning of the project and early civilizations is under construction.

      Hi I am not sure if I ever replied to your reply...sorry about that! I'm starting a new collaborative project, an online book club centered around the reading of The 39 Clues by Rick Riordan. Check out the wiki: http://bookclub21.wikispaces.com . We are getting ready to start on November 1, so let me know what you think.

    I would like to introduce my self and a possible project for your class. Fearing that art history would be lost to schools and knowing that it is not well used in schools I decided to start the creation of a site open to everyone. wwww.foundation.org and scroll down to find Meet Katherine.

    Hi Ben,
    I'm advising our middle school book club, for grades 5-7. I'm not sure who has signed up for the club yet, but if it's mostly 5th graders, I'll get in touch. I'd love to have a collaborative online component. Have you used Goodreads at all? We are setting our 5th graders up with Goodreads accounts, and it's a fun way to do group discussions about books.

    I am an Assistant Principal in North Carolina. I will share this with my 4th and 5th grade teachers. We frequently us Skype at Western Union Elementary School and would love the opportunity to work with your class.
