Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Are your students interested in global issues, but fail to how they can connect to their lives, sometimes a world away? Do your students wonder, "When will I ever use this?" when you teach a new concept? This session will show you how using advocacy and other action components can empower students to use their classroom learning in the context of the real world. Advocacy and action help students to see that what they are learning in the classroom can help them to be an active global citizen not sometime in the imagined future, but NOW! Participants will engage with ideas of how to connect advocacy to classroom content, regardless of the field, as well as simple suggestions that can be implemented immediately.
