Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

In this workshop I will present a project I started with my Yr 10 classes (14-15) in 2009 in which they were producing activities to be used and broadcast in our "EM Spectrum TV Show". I will show how creating our online TV channel with Livestream transformed the learning experiences of our pupils and gave them a real sense of ownership over their learning. This method also raised standards in our exam results. This approach has profound pedagogical gain over more traditional ways of teaching, because it hands the responsibility of learning to the learners themselves to degrees they would normally not experience. In fact, the students become responsible not only for their individual learning, but for that of their classmates and for that of their audience! This resulted in higher motivation to learn my subject, in developing more independent and interdependet learners and encouraged parents to become more involved in their children's education!

In this workshop we will also explore practical ways in which you could set up a similar approach in your school, as well as demonstrate ways in which you can set up collaborative projects between schools from different cities and countries.
