Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum):
Learn more about Global Nomad Group’s (GNG) innovative educational programs and how to implement intercultural videoconferencing and webcasts in the classroom, specifically, we'll discuss the “Connecting Cultures, Exploring Science: Road to Doha” program. A yearlong collaborative science-based program that engaged students in Qatar, US, and Brazil around the climate change debate through exploring critical environmental issues via project-based learning that includes standards-based curriculum, hands-on collaboration, and virtual exchanges. Young people from these countries explored the science and policy behind climate change and learned about each other’s cultures in the process. Throughout the program, students were asked to think about the guiding question: “How can you create the future you want for your community and your planet?”
In addition, we'll discuss the benefits of interactive videoconferencing on teaching and learning as well as how GNG programs can be successfully integrated into 7-12th grade curricula and aligned with 21st century skills as well as common core standards. To conclude, we'll share best practices.
