I am a huge proponent of using technology in the classroom. My Master's is in Education Technology. There seems to be this huge wave of negativity by many teachers and school districts regarding the use of cell phones the classroom. I view it as fear. I use them successfully in my classroom for all sorts of projects. The kids are engaged because it is what they use every day to connect to each other and the world. I see not downside to using this technology in the classroom if the students are trained and motivated properly. I have them use it for blogging and school proprietary social media, for research, quizzes, application creation, educational games, and more.....
I would love some comments and please share some ideas if you have used phones in the classroom and the positive aspects you have found.
I teach High School grades 9-12 Social Sciences (U.S. History, World History, Econ, Government, Psych and Geo).
