The Global Education Conference and its recorded sessions provids free and virtual resources that can be utilized in curriculum and courses. This session demonstrates how the 2011 Global Education Conference session recordings were used as a text for a university online course in education. The goal of the course was to identify and study current trends and issues in education. Students accessed lessons on rSmart Sakai, listened to and watched recorded presentations on the website of the 2011 Global Education Conference, then utilized Sakai again for discussion forums and written assignments. Conference session lessons included: Global Ethics by Howard Gardner, Global Competence by Ed Graggert,Thee Cups of Fictions: Why Schools Won’t Save the World and What We Can Do About It by Carol Black, Educating Girls by Tara Abrahams, Education in Finland by Jarmo Viteli, and Perspectives on the Education System in Finland: Leading the Change by Ann Gaudino. This session is of interest to university and school administrators and faculty. Participants can utilize the model of this course at any level from high school through graduate courses.
