The Youth Institute of Science & Technology of Agogo, Ghana is now recruiting volunteer educators to work in Ghana during the Summer 2010. Volunteer Educators will spend at least 4 weeks working with Ghanaian Educators to open a high school in Ejisu, Ghana.
Ejusi Abanase is a village located in the historical township of Ejisu.
At present, Ejisu has 77 middle schools. Out of this figure, 56 are public and 21 are private. The total enrollment of these schools is 8000.
After Middle School (JSS), most students do not receive a high school education. Ejisu Abanase does not have a senior high school. There appears to be a direct correlation between the high teenage pregnancy rate, extreme poverty of women and the lack of a senior high school in the village.
During the summer of 2009, Y.I.S.T. received permission from the Queen Mother and District Assembly to refurbish an existing building to create a Senior High School. In order to do so, we will need a dedicated team of educators.
This collaborative team will design curriculum, organize course materials, paint, provide professional development workshops, conduct observations, monitor classes, and teach.
