Web conferences make sense, save CO2 and are great networking opportunities in a global world. Above all, no longer does one miss out on presentations due to parallel sessions. Wouldn't you agree, that one can spend all of the time and money in the world, attend one's favorite conference and still miss more than half of the program? At a web conference ALL of the sessions can be recorded.
The question is, are these recordings being watched? Yes, they are. The Virtual Round Table WebCon, an annual conference on language learning technologies, the DaFWEBKON for teachers of German and the SLanguages Annual Symposium about language learning in virtual worlds have seen some 4,500 participants in total and the recordings have been watched more than 23,000 times!
