Full Session Description

In 1847, Ignaz Semmelweis publicized the revelation that doctors transmit diseases and thus effected the revolution that has given birth to modern medicine. Today, more than a century and a half later, a parallel recognition of the damages of education has not taken place as of yet. Why?

In my presentation I will talk about attempts to introduce fallibilism into education by the very few thinkers who endorsed it – and what came of it. I will touch upon all the related issues, including the one addressed in my book: why does the open society endorse closed education?

Also I will address the global importance and relevance of this issue: for I believe that the very future of humanity – indeed our survival – depends on it.
