  • Hello,

We have a beekeeper on staff at my school. He's been keeping bees for years, too. I believe he (only) has 19 hives right now, but one is here on my home property. It's great for our raspberries, strawberries and fruit trees.

In addition, I know of another keeper in the area who has over 40 hives. Both of these folks have bees that make INCREDIBLE honey.

Not sure where "local" is for you, but this is about 1/2 hour north of Madison, Wisconsin. :)
    • As a matter of fact, I ordered some honey from WI for our project. My class and I have learned so much this year about bees and I think it is great that you have a beekeeper on staff to teach others about the importance of bees. I was able to contact a local beekeeper here in VA and he will come to my class with an observation hive and some honey for my students. Thanks for sharing!
  • Patricia, my mom is a retired teacher and has been a beekeeper for over 10 years. I could give her your email address... ?

    • I would love it! btw, I commend her for being a beekeeper. I realize now how important what they do is to our everyday living. (eating too).
      Thanks!
